President’s Message
Ken Robinson, CFP®
It appears as though spring has finally sprung! The Cherry Blossoms are blooming, and the
Washington Nationals opened the 2015 MLB season today against the Mets at
Nationals Park! And this also means we
are only one month away from our 22nd annual Charity Golf Classic
at the Reston National Golf Course on Wednesday, May 6th. Foursomes are filling up fast, so register HERE soon!
We had a fantastic Media Training and Luncheon event on
March 19th. We were
privileged to have Ben Lewis, the Director of Public Relations for FPA, provide
us with a lot of great information and insights during media training. We were also very fortunate to have Helen
Modly as our luncheon speaker presenting on the topic of inherited retirement
plans. The turnout was great and we received very positive feedback for the
event.
As we approach the tax filing deadline, we can look forward to
some post-tax fun during our member Happy Hour event on Thursday,
April 16th at Chima Restaurant in Tysons Corner, VA. Come join us and celebrate the end of tax
season! Please click HERE for the details and to
register.
We have some great events coming up in May. In addition to our Charity Golf Classic, we
also have our Member Breakfast event, which will be hosted by VLP
Financial Advisors, on Friday, May 8th. This is a great chance to meet and network
with your industry colleagues. Please
to register.
On Saturday, May 9th, we will have our 2nd
annual FPANCA NexGen Retreat in Washington, D.C. In addition to a dynamic line up of speakers
and great networking, attendees will be treated to a Washington Nationals
baseball game to conclude the event. So,
if you are a planner age 36 or under, we hope you will join us for this fantastic
gathering of NexGen planners! Please click HERE for the details and to
register.
It
is hard to believe, but our 2015 Spring Symposium is less than two
months away! This year our Spring Symposium
will be held at the McLean Hilton in the Tysons Corner area on Wednesday,
June 3rd. So mark your
calendars! Our programs committee has
put together a great lineup featuring Ed Slott as our keynote speaker. Please click HERE for the details and to
register. We are also offering an ethics
course prior to the start of the main symposium program. The ethics course requires separate
registration, so if you plan to attend please click HERE to sign up.
Please
visit our Community Calendar for a comprehensive list of
upcoming events and then add them to your calendar!
We need
your feedback and suggestions to help us make our programs even better. So
please reach out to us with your thoughts and ideas. The contact
information for our Board of Directors is listed HERE. And please get involved and volunteer for one
of our committees. It is a great way to make an impact and to build new
relationships with your colleagues.
Best
Regards,
Ken
