President’s Message

Rose Price, CFP®

We hit the year running with 140 attendees at our 3-day virtual symposium event in January, hosted by past President Chris Rivers.  The program delivered the opportunity to get 15 CFP credits and 2 ethics.  We had a great line-up of keynote speakers and platinum sponsors tackling topics from New Administration-New Estate planning opportunities, COVID impact on Financial and Estate planning, Economic trends, Industry trends and Credit investing.  There was something for everyone in this year’s line-up.  If you missed this year’s symposium, you can access the handouts for some of the speakers on the website and connect with the sponsors here:  https://www.fpanca.org/page/40.    All around this year’s Symposium was a great success even with a temporary internet outage on the east coast Tuesday.  Big thanks to our sponsors for their continued support, our membership’s participation, and Chris and Peggy for all their work.

The program team is hard at work on the rest of this year’s calendar. In February, we will host a community forum on February 18th and on February 25th our first financial planning trivia.  March will bring a NexGen open forum on March 9th as well as a webinar and Community forum. Dates and times and registration details will open soon on our website. If you have suggestions for programs or community forum topics of interest, please reach out and share your ideas.

If you are a new member or a seasoned member who has not attended a virtual meeting, I invite you to attend, and you will not be disappointed.  We sure do miss seeing our members and networking; we are looking forward to the opportunity to gather in person later this year and continue to grow our great profession.

We look forward to seeing you on-line at our next event.

Best wishes,

Rose

President’s Message

Rose Price, CFP®

Happy New Year!  The year 2020 is one for the record books!  What a year we had, and I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the great job our President, Parker Trasborg, our Executive Director, Peggy Nelson, and the Board did in 2020 to adjust and pivot programs for virtual meetings and content.  I am grateful for the opportunity to take over the reins, and I am excited to work with this year’s board. I would like to recognize our sponsors who have been paramount in helping us deliver programs, speakers, and hosting Community forums.  We thank you for your continued support and look forward to our partnership in 2021.

There is a lot going on as the new year rolls in. We are seeing the first round of vaccines rolling out, providing hope we may be able to have in person meetings in 2021.  We will have a new President and the first female Vice President. And, we will hold our annual winter Symposium virtually.  The three-day winter symposium will be on January 25th, 26th and the 28th.  Our chair, Chris Rivers, has a great line up of speakers you won’t want to miss from Michael Kitces, Brad McMillian with an Economic update, Carolyn McClanahan discussing COVID’s impact on Financial planning, Rita Cheng covering ethics and several other great speakers with a potential 15 CE credits.    This year will also feature Platinum sponsor break out rooms on various timely topics, an alternative to our sponsor tables.   You can find the full slate of speakers and register for the event at www.fpanca.org. The Registration fee is $175 for Members and $225 for non-members.

If you are a new member, or a seasoned member who has not attended a virtual meeting recently, I invite you to attend and you will not be disappointed.  With our busy careers it is often hard to make time for meetings, but this year’s January Symposium will be well worth your time.

We sure do miss seeing our members and networking. Here is hoping 2021 brings us the opportunity to gather in person and continue to grow our great profession.

I look forward to seeing you at our next event.

Best wishes,

Rose
