President’s Message
Welcome
to July! Based on recent temperatures,
I’d say summer has definitely arrived! I
hope everyone is staying cool and enjoying some vacation time. Our chapter had another great month of events
in June. Our annual Spring Symposium was
a huge success with the highest turnout we have seen in years. The final presentation of the day by Ed Slott
was very popular and received excellent reviews.
Our
chapter was also well-represented this past June during FPA Advocacy Day on
Capitol Hill. Members from our chapter
visited the offices of our Senators and Representatives in Congress and raised
awareness on a variety of key issues facing our industry.
Coming up this month, we have another excellent luncheon program scheduled for Thursday, July 16th at Maggiano’s Restaurant in Tysons Corner, VA. We have two superb speakers lined up for this event to educate us on two very timely subjects. We will begin with Lisa Kirchenbauer presenting “5 Essential Skills of an Exceptional Planner” followed by David Taube who will help us better understand “Financial Planning for Same Sex Couples After the Supreme Court Ruling.” Please click HERE to register.
Also in the month of
July, we will have another gathering of our NexGen Study Group on Tuesday, July 21st at the offices of Sullivan, Bruyette, Speros
and Blayney. If you are 36 or under, please click HERE to sign up for this outstanding opportunity to
learn and network with your NexGen colleagues.
On Saturday, August 8th, we will have our first ever FPANCA
Night at the Ballpark for the Nationals vs Rockies baseball game at
Nationals Park! Our group will be seated
together in right field just below the Family Picnic Area; we have reserved the
family picnic area starting at 5:30 PM until the start of the game at 7 PM. The ticket price is only $40 per person and includes
game admission as well as a classic picnic package consisting of burgers,
dogs, field greens, chips, assorted soft drinks, and water melon wedges. We have a limited number of tickets so once
they are gone, they are gone! So please register
HERE soon!
And finally, to close
out the summer, we will have an FPANCA Happy Hour event on Wednesday, September 2nd at Chima Restaurant in Tysons Corner, VA. Come
out and celebrate the end of summer with your colleagues! Please click HERE for the details and to register.
Please visit our Community Calendar for a comprehensive list of upcoming events, and then add them to
your calendar!
Also, we want to
congratulate our FPA NCA Members who were chosen for Investment News “40 under
40” list for 2015! Congratulations go to Rose Price, Rianka Dorsainvil, Marcio
Silveira, and Steve Starnes (who recently moved out of our chapter area).
Congratulations to these FPA NCA members, and please read their profile info
included in Investment News in this Newsletter.
We need your feedback
and suggestions to help us make our programs even better. Please reach out to
us with your thoughts and ideas. The
contact information for our Board of Directors is listed HERE. And please get involved and volunteer for one
of our committees. It is a great way to
make an impact and to build new relationships with your colleagues.
Best Regards,
Ken
