PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

As I work from home during yet another snow day, it seems
hard to believe that in just two months we will be enjoying our 21st
annual golf tournament on Thursday, May 8th at 1757 Golf Course in
Ashburn, Virginia. We always fill up so register your foursome early.
Between now and May, there are four chapter events to keep
us busy. On Thursday, March 6th, there will be a chapter breakfast
at the Reston Offices of FJY Financial
from 8am to 10am. All members are welcome, but please register as soon as
possible. Many of your board members will be there as well as Janet Stanzak,
our current President of the FPA National Board of Directors.
On Thursday, March 12th, there will be a happy
hour at Chima’s restaurant
at 8010 Leesburg Pike, Tyson’s Corner from 5pm to 7pm. Register at FPANCA.org
so we can plan refreshments. This happy hour is open to all members and NexGen
members.
Thursday, March 20th we have our annual media
training workshop featuring Jim Pavia from 10am to 11:30 am at the Bethesda
Country Club. Following Jim will be our regular member luncheon with our own
Michael Kitces who will present the new Health Care law. Always a popular
speaker, Michael will be focusing on the implications the new law holds for
investors.
1st Annual
Career Fair
Well, if you missed it-you really missed it. Our first
career fair was held before and after our February professional development
luncheon and it was a huge success. We had 55 candidates interviewing with 19
firms for both summer internships and full time career positions. I had the
privilege of speaking to many of the candidates, and I was so impressed with
their enthusiasm and energy for entering our profession. The consensus of all
who attended is that we will definitely be doing another career fair next year.
Don’t sit on the sidelines with so much going on in your
chapter. Go online and register for one or more of these upcoming events to
network with your friends and colleagues. I hope to see you at our next event.
