President’s Message

Dan Lash, CFP®, AIF®

The Third Annual FPA NCA Career Day was a great success.  There is a reason our career day was recognized by FPA National for its great innovation: we had over 20 employers and 80 applicants attend the day at the Dulles Hyatt on February 19.  I would like to thank our NexGen Co-Chair’s, Aaron Clarke and Lauren Grove, for putting together an outstanding event and great speakers.
If you missed this year, I would encourage you to mark your calendar to register this December for the 2017 Career Day to find your next associate advisor or intern.
Looking ahead, please join us March 17, at the Bethesda Country Club Luncheon for Media Training and Mary Beth Franklin discussing Social Security and Medicare changes.  Media Training will provide you access to the FPA National media inquiry system.  The Media inquiry system provides interview opportunities by national financial outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, CNBC.com, Reuters, Bloomberg and many others.  If you want to increase your media presence this is the meeting to attend.
With the tax season upon us there will be no luncheon meeting in April, but we will celebrate the end of tax season with a chapter Happy Hour at Chima Restaurant in Tysons Corner on April 20th.  Also, don’t forget to register for the 23rd Annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, May 11 at Westfields Golf Course.  This is always a fun chapter event that benefits the charities we support, the main one being the Foundation for Financial Planning.  Everyone is a winner at this event, so don’t worry if you don’t play golf; it will still be a day of fun.
Be sure to visit the events page for all scheduled meetings and to register at www.fpanca.org.  If you are a new member, or a seasoned member who has not attended a meeting recently, I invite you to attend one meeting this year, and I will be sure to introduce myself.  With our busy careers, it is often hard to make time for meetings.  However, if you attend I know you will not be disappointed.
Here is hoping for no more significant snow fall this winter.
Look forward to seeing you at our next event.
Best Regards,

Dan
