Welcome October; we have some big changes on the horizon.   Peggy Nelson the foundation and backbone of our Chapter for the past 24 years, will be retiring at the end of the year.  Please join me in congratulating Peggy for a long and wonderful tenure as the Executive Director.  Peggy has been instrumental in the success and growth of our Chapter and we wish her nothing but the best in her next chapter.  The executive team, with Peggy’s insight, reviewed the position and conducted interviews and are happy to announce Kristin Beane and her team at Endeavor, LLC will take over responsibilities.

Kristin and her team are well equipped as they currently are the Executive Director of FPA Massachusetts and New England as well as supported the FPA National Conference.  Kristin has 20 years of working FPA Chapter knowledge and we look forward to having her join our team.  Peggy will be here through the end of the year and will also join us for our January symposium as we transition the role to Kristin.  We hope you can join us at our January symposium as we recognize Peggy and welcome Kristin.

Another change on the horizon is a new Chapter website.  We are currently building and will update you when our new site is live.

We are preparing for the upcoming months mindful of the Delta variant with our member and sponsor’s safety balanced with getting back to some normal events.  We will be in person for October events and will take necessary precautions and follow facility guidelines.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the changing landscape.

Upcoming Events - We will be hosting our 7th annual  career fair on October 15th, see below for details.  We are looking to host an October webinar, details to come.  The programs team is hard at work on the November and December events and we are hoping to be in-person at Westwood Country Club.  Please visit FPA NCA Events page for updates and registration.

Volunteer Opportunities - We have decided to postpone our Metro Washington Financial Planning Day due to logistics with COVID and our involvement with the UMGC Financial Wellness Day in August.  Stay tuned for future opportunities!

Next Generation - The NexGen team will be hard at work at the October Career Fair hosting the Employers and students. They will host their next Forum in December.  Check the website for dates and updates.

Diversity & Inclusion -There are some exciting opportunities if you are looking to learn more or get involved.  FPA National has a list of Knowledge Circles and opportunities to discuss and learn more.

Circles: These knowledge circles can be joined here

African-American, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, FPA Latino, PridePlanners, Neurodivergent Planners, Women & Finance

Events: Asian-American/Pacific Islander Knowledge Circle: AAPI Jeopardy: "Discover the Diversity" on October 21st at 3:00pm EST Registration link

FPA National Updates The FPA Central Office staff is working on an FPA Fall Learning Series that will make most of the terrific content that was slated for the conference available at no cost to all FPA members. They are working with the speakers and partners on this multi-week virtual program that will cover various issues relevant to the practice and business of financial planning. It will include live and on-demand webinars, live discussions through our many Knowledge Circle communities, and offer CFP® CE credit when possible.

They are finalizing the program details, which will begin in early November, and will promote this unique learning program shortly.

If you are a new member or a seasoned member who has not attended a meeting in a while, I invite you to attend. You will not be disappointed.  We look forward to seeing you at our next event.

Best wishes,

Rose
