As we bid farewell to the coldest February in Washington, D.C. since 1979, I would like to remind everyone that in just over 60 days we will be enjoying warm spring weather at our 22nd annual Charity Golf Classic at the Reston National Golf Course on Wednesday, May 6th. This event fills up fast so click HERE to register your foursome!
And here is another sign Spring is right around the corner. Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 a.m. So don’t forget to spring forward by moving your clocks up by one hour!
If you missed our 2nd Annual Career Fair last month, you missed a great event! There were 70 candidates interviewing for full-time positions and internships with 25 different firms. The turnout was up 25% compared to the inaugural event last year. The college financial planning programs in our area are doing a great job preparing students for careers in financial planning. The next generation of financial planners is very impressive!
We have a couple of great events coming up this month. The NexGen Study Group will convene again at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10th at the offices of SBSB in McLean, Virginia. If you are 36 or under, please click HERE to sign up for this outstanding opportunity to learn and network with your NexGen colleagues.
Our Media Training and Luncheon Event is scheduled for Thursday, March 19th at the Bethesda Country Club. Ben Lewis, the Director of Public Relations for the Financial Planning Association, will be conducting our Media Training from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. followed by our luncheon program featuring Helen Modly of Focus Wealth Management, Ltd. Helen will be presenting on the topic of Inherited Retirement Plans and all of the potential problems arising from the inheritance of different types of retirement accounts. Please click HERE to register for one or both of these events.
We are also looking forward to our first Happy Hour event of 2015 on Thursday, April 16th at Chima Restaurant in Tysons Corner, VA. Come out and celebrate the end of tax season! Please click HERE for the details and to register.
Please visit our Community Calendar for a comprehensive list of upcoming events and then add them to your calendar!
We need your feedback and suggestions to help us make our programs even better. So please reach out to us with your thoughts and ideas. The contact information for our Board of Directors is listed HERE. And please get involved and volunteer for one of our committees. It is a great way to make an impact and to build new relationships with your colleagues.
