Bryan Beatty, CFP®, AIF®
President’s Message

Happy Independence Day 2017! The country is officially 241 years Young!

We had a very successful Spring Symposium highlighted by Wade Pfau’s new look at reverse mortgages and topped off by Bob Veres’ look into future revenue models of advisory practices. We had a little social media, banking landscape, made a case for alternative investments and examined senior housing transition planning in the middle of the day for a well-rounded program designed to help advisors prepare for the new fiduciary world.

We also congratulated our Leadership Award winner Kathleen Sindell and our Lifetime Achievement Award winner Ellisa Buie. We had recognized Emily Chiang as the Planner of the Year Award winner in January.

I would like to say goodbye to board member Christine D’Amico as she heads to southwestern Virginia to be closer to family. Christine has helped us have a successful Golf event this year, as well as many amazing and fun social networking events. We will miss Christine and wish her the best of success in her move.

What would summer be without a healthy dose of social activity? So, join us for our next happy hour with one hour of CE scheduled for July 12th at Bazin’s in Vienna, or our membership happy hour on  August 8th at Chima in Tysons. Also, don’t miss the NexGen Retreat on July 26 at a country home in Great Falls for learning and networking sessions in a relaxed and inviting environment!

See our chapter calendar for other upcoming events. We have a fall calendar planned with three wonderful luncheons and a happy hour with CE, including terrific speakers and a September Ethics class. More details will be coming soon on these events.

Remember we are always looking for people to get involved and volunteer even if it is just one thing. We hope to see you at an upcoming event soon.

If you are interested in getting involved on the board in 2018 please contact Howard Pressman, our current President-elect, and discuss opportunities for you for the next year.

Sincerely,
Bryan
