Great presentation on Social Security and Medicare by Mary Beth Franklin!  Just when I thought I knew enough to be dangerous, Mary Beth came to our March 17th event and shared some very important updates on Social Security and Medicare. There is still more planning for us to do even as doors are closing on some of planner’s favorite claiming strategies.  Highlights included the idea of getting clients who are age 66 and older now but plan to wait until 70 to take the biggest Social Security benefits possible, to File & Suspend NOW, and if they change their mind and want to collect benefits, they can collect a lump sum.  If you don’t File and Suspend and decide to collect benefits, there is no lump sum payout beyond a 6 month retroactive payment.  When it comes to Medicare, it will be increasingly important for planners to help their clients manage taxable income in retirement to keep Medicare premiums down in 2018 and beyond.  If you are looking for resources on Medicare and Social Security go to www.Goodcare.com for Medicare info and www.investmentnews.com/mbfbook to get Mary Beth’s new book on Social Security.  If you can grab the slides from the presentation…they were VERY useful.  Personally, she helped me solve for a Social Security planning issue in my own family and I am very grateful for that, as well!

Join us at the June 9th Spring Symposium, and you will learn more important strategies to help your clients! Details and Registration opening soon!
